Event Name The 6th Tour de Sanriku – Cycling Challenge 2017 – in Rikuzentakata/Ofunato
Event Schedule September 30 (Saturday) and October 1 (Sunday), 2017
30 (Saturday): Registration, Pre-opening Ceremony (held on the previous day), Stage Event, etc.
1 (Sunday): Opening Ceremony, Cycling (participants ride their bicycles on each course), etc.
Place Cities of Rikuzentakata and Ofunato (Iwate Prefecture)
Event Details Cycling * This is not a speed race.
Goukyaku Mononoke Course (Approximately 64.5 km) Elevation Gain 1248 m Average Gradient 5%

Kenkyaku Mountain Course (Approximately 52 km)  Elevation Gain 885 m Average Gradient 4.6%
Kenkyaku A Course (Approximately 50 km) Elevation Gain 760 m Average Gradient 4.2%
The Kenkyaku B Course is the same course as the Kenkyaku A Course;
Family Course (Approximately 25 km) Elevation Gain 103 m Average Gradient 3.1%
Number of participants 1,500 people (scheduled)
(Goukyaku Mononoke Course: 100 people, Kenkyaku Mountain Course: 400 people. Kenkyaku A/B Courses: 750 people, Family Course: 250 people)
Participation Fee Goukyaku Mononoke Course 10,000 yen
Kenkyaku Mountain Course 10,000 yen Kenkyaku (A/B) Courses 9,300 yen
Family Course 5,000 yen
*Consumption taxes are included in the above fees. Handling fees will be separately charged.

Rules and Regulations of the event This event is not a race but a cycling event for the citizens. Participants cycle as a group, and each group is accompanied by a cycle leader (staff) to ensure safe operation of the event. In addition, time limits are set for several locations along the course and those who exceed the time limits cannot continue cycling.
